In the photos I tried to make it simple as well as limit the amount of descriptions. So instead of describing the size I show the tag which also has the stock number. C= chest, SH= shoulder, S= sleeve, L= length. With Pants- I= inseam, O= outer seam, W= waist.
How to measure yourself:
Slacks: Length and Inseam Using a pair of pants that fits you well, measure the length from the crotch following the inseam to the pant hem. Measure the outer seam because pants from the 40’s and 50’s were high waisted.
Tops: Men’s Shirts and coats, etc. With your arms straight out from your sides, measure the fullest part of your chest all the way around, just under your arms. Arm length I use the top of the shoulder seam down to the cuff edge. Length is given from collar base down the back.
Sweaters: Generally I measure the chest only. That usually works for me but if you want more detailed measurements let me know.
Hats: I found the best way is to measure the diameter, front to back and side to side. (If you add those two numbers up then divide by two, you should arrive at the circumference. The brim, underneath from edge to bead. The hat crown is measured from the bottom of the hat band, located directly in the middle of the crease, to the middle dip of the crown.
Women’s Bust and HipUse a tape measure to measure the fullest part of the bust for bust measurement, the narrowest point of the waist for waist measurement, and the fullest part of the hip (usually 9 inches from the waist) for the hip measurement. Take these measurements while wearing your usual undergarments.
